WildYou could never be strangers again
in that void of charged space
between the eyes and the air.
And the other people, who are
less than faces in the crowd.

Maybe it was a true dream of
dark times, always walking,
you are thief protected by gloss
that they could break
if only they knew how.

The lion at the zoo could
jump the fence, the wolves
could dig beneath the glass.

Safety is a mutual ignorance,
and it is something to be reminded
through wilds of the woods,
that she has fangs
and so do you.

First ImpressionsI remember the first time I met her
a tower of books tucked under her chin
glasses sliding down her nose
that she wiggled like a hare's

I helped her carry the tower
to her brother's truck
him ever so persistent to return home
and her just happy to escape into literature

she slumped into the seat
the tower resting at her bare toes
she stuck out her hand
and told me her name

and laughed at the common of it

she would be a freshman after summer
same as me
her brother still urgent
had the engine roar to life

and drive away

her hand waving at me
with a broad smile bubbling over
that danced for me
and all I could think was

The PoetThe Poet:

He smiles as he sees her sleeping
& gently covers her with a blanket.
He goes to the window and looks out
watching snow fall, ever so slowly...

He sees people in the streets,
Chatting, walking. Some happy,
Others sad. Hearts beating,
Hearts broken; some warm, some cold.

He looks back at her, as she stirs in bed.
A yawn from her, brings another smile to him:
"How cute," he chuckles as he strokes her head.
He runs his fingers through her hair and is content.

Yet, even if he is happy here, again -
He is drawn to that window and finds himself
Staring out at the street and watching;
Marveling at the disparity and wonderin

If only You'd say yes.You want to know how i feel,
but im in fear of what you would say.
Telling you plainly "i love you",
Is not enough to make you stay

So the reasons that i love you...
is it your smile? Is it your laugh?
is it the fact that i can tell you anything,
and know that you'll always have my back?

Is it because you're like one of the guys?
Never afraid to make fun of us back.
But still showing that you are a lady
that is gentle and with feelings intact.

Just the feeling of seeing you next to me,
is enough to make my heart race.
It would stop at the sound of your voice,
but wont settle for less than first place.

You tell me that you aren't perfect,

Androphobiai was stitched lips and a flightless raven heart-
all sex and a contorting spine;
his own lips engraving 'kiss me's' on empty stars.

& between you and me: i feared his teeth,
& tongue, & honest organs-
with skin that begged, 'please, don't touch me.'

screaming through the uncharted galaxies
of my wanderlust heartstrings.

Because I Forget     Some broken hearts
  Will love again,
  Some fractured minds
Watch sun-rise, and mend,
  Some happy dreams
Are cherished by friends,

You will triumph again

Every single place
The troubles seem to grow

Eventually frowns with woe

Why can't I do
Anything right
I just screw
Up everything despite
The happiness I try to spew

Is it me
Am I the source of this ache
Does the pain flow free
Is this what I make
People be?

Should I go away and hide
Never to see others
Or the outside
But would I stop another's
Pain and be the only one that ever cried

What is a life with no grey
When everyone is sad
I'd give it all away
It wouldn't be that bad
I would finally be able to say

I saved a life

You are not an islandI have been alone. This man is an island.
The cliffs of my shoulder blades
hang heavy with grief, ore, suffering.
I am draped with the permanence of gravity,
So do not believe that you cannot move.
Come to me, water babes fully grown,

Allow yourself to be swept in salt and ash.
Tumble with your brothers into my arms
and be at peace, at last, on the shore.
I too was once drowned, but I arose
and as the caps melt, all things will erode
For no man is an island alone.

I want to forget names,& faces,
& people.

I want to forget their veins,
fingerprints forever burned into my eyelids;
wrists I can't look at
without longing to tear apart.

Spine full, and spiteful:

I want to cry
roses in my midnight tea
for these star collapsed lungs.

I want to cry for her
& for me.

But Shame,
she wont allow me the courtesy.

Coward of a ManCoward of a Man:

You stand there whinin', cryin' crocodile tears and playin' victim.
Ye eyes demand pity, but yer lips are spewin' nothin' but lies.
Flowery speeches o' harmony and unification;
It's bollocks and snake-oil I say!

I ask ye, as someone who aspires t' be a leader:
What exactly are ye worth?
Who exactly are ya, and what in th' bloody hell makes you worth followin'?

Now I've watched ye fer a long time, and I've known ye fer even longer -
Ye always stand there beggin', askin' us fer help, askin' fer a handout;
But yer hands are clean, uncalloused, and completely free from sweat or toil.

Shock WavesFaces scream of silent pain
Bodies twisted by desires
In castles we build relentlessly
Feelings are forever hidden

Steel and concrete replaced
Pure living and survival
In glass towers beasts indulging
On their unborn children

Let the shock waves come
And pulse through all repulsive
Let them break our brains
And return us to nothing

Gold that serves no purpose
Made-up money with no value
Grins are painted on the walls
Where nobody is laughing

Willingly we blind ourselves
Willingly we chain our bodies
Take the pills they give you
Take sterilised happiness

Let the shock waves come
And burn us 'till we're black
Let the citie

SadnessSadness had always been an active resident in the places I had lived.
It swelled and breathed and scented the breeze like the dying petals of spring,
floating through open windowpanes and settling like dust on the empty shelves.
Sometimes it just appeared without visible entry like the cobwebs that roost in those corners you had thought so clean just a day ago. Or it unraveled in the morning dew and graced the cold spring skies, scattered like hundreds of wandering stars only visible in the light of a window.

ConstellationShe is dream dust,
too bitter or wise
for her own good.

A timeless dragon's soul
somewhere inside a
scaled shell, burning
the silence in her bones
alive, honeysuckle sweet.

She collects fireflies only to
set them free at 3am,
crying to an uncaring moon.

& she's begging for the stars
to take her away,
make this house a home
rigged in the sky.

To me,
She is already naked fever
swimming through the cosmos

& I orbit her.

Happy Mothers Day (Finished)Mom,
This letter is typed because your daughter is a lazy bum and its gotten to the point where I really can't write unless my fingers are tapping rapidly against plastic keys and black, printed letters are sprawled across a blank white screen.
I don't dare touch pencil because there's no backspace attached and otherwise requires moving my wrist.
And being a writer means only staring intently at a sheet of lined-paper for hours at a time and ending up with nothing but lead smudges on the side of your hand to show for it.
I'm not a perfect daughter.
("Congratulations, it's a...")
Quite frankly, I'm far from even a good daughter and I have a lot of making up to do.
But look at you go, Wonder Woman!
(I used Wonder Woman because I'm not all that creative and, honestly, what's wrong with Wonder Woman? I bet she's super.)

You'll be a lawyer-

I'll be a writer.

You'll probably make more money but-

At least we'll both be doing things we love.

And we'll live on a farm,

Just like you always wanted and...

I want to marry you-

I can't imagine myself with anyone else.

But you don't know that.

We'd both laugh if I told you.

So it's better left unsaid.

I can see us staying up late...

Watching kiddie movies and eating chocolate ice cream.

And having candle lit dates on our bedroom floor-

Taco Bell, of course.

And on winter evenings, we'll curl up on the couch...

With hot chocolate...

As I read aloud to you-

From a book of my choice, of course.

But you don't know this...

You'd think I was weird if I told you.

So it's better left unsaid.

And one day we'll pick out a huge chair.

A chair for cuddling.

And when I'm sad-

You'll hold me in our chair...

And we'll both stay real quiet,

Taking each other in.

And eventually we'll start to talk-

Quiet murmurs at first...

And eventually we'll both be laughing like we do.

But I can't ever tell you.

These things are just better left unsaid.

And on late summer evenings,

As the sun is slowly sinking beyond the horizon-

We'll sit outside,

The two of us-

You'll play your guitar,

And I'll sing love songs.

And it will be perfect.

And I'll wear your shirts to bed-

Just because.

But we won't sleep.

We'll cuddle-

And laugh-

And tell corny jokes...

Until the sun rises.

And then sleep all day...

But it's too perfect-

Too silly-

Too ignorant.

And I can't tell you.

So it's better left unsaid.

And that's where our story ends...

Because I could never tell you.

And sometimes I wonder...
